Ilorin, March 15, 2020 (NAN) The Chairman of Kwara State Football Association, Idris Musa, on Sunday assured that the association would help injured Kwara United Football Club’s Abdulsalam Abdulsalam in recovering quickly.
Musa made the promise after Kwara United beat visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi on Sunday in Ilorin in a 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 24 fixture.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abdulsalam fractured his left leg just two minutes into the match played at the Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin.
“I want to assure football lovers in the state that the Kara FA board will continue to practise according to the statutes and regulations of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).
“This assurance can be attested to with the way injured Abdulsalam was urgently attended to by the medics before he was taken to the hospital by a well-equipped ambulance which has always been provided by the FA during matches.
“Adequate facilities have always been on ground at football games at the state stadium and I can restate the fact that the association is committed to helping Abdulsalam Abdulsalam in recovering from the career-threatening injury he sustained,” Musa said.
While wishing the injured player quick recovery, the Kwara FA chairman applauded the medics and security men for their commitment during Sunday’s game.
Meanwhile, as a mark of respect and show of concern, some Wikki Tourists players and staff later paid injured Abdulsalam a visit at the General Hospital in Ilorin, where he was receiving treatment.
Captain of Wikki Tourists, Peter Ambrose who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said they were at the hospital to show their solidarity.
He said it was their wish that the player would speedily recover.
Ibrahim Pius and Metu Chigozirim later led prayers for the quick recovery of Abdulsalam during the visit.(NAN)
