Abuja, April 19, 2020 (NAN) An NGO, Riche Faith Foundation, on Sunday donated food items to members of the disabled community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a support during the lockdown.
Ms Rich-Faith Igbineweka, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, while donating the items, called on the society to embrace Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), show them love and share with them where possible.
Igbineweka said: “We are all equal and one before God, irrespective of whatever deformity or affiliation.’’
She noted that those discriminating against Persons with Disabilities were immature and were doing so out of ignorance.
She said her Foundation might not have enough but decided to share the little it had with Persons with Disabilities as a way of giving back to the society and bringing joy to the less privileged.
Igbineweka prayed for God’s blessings and mercies on the country.
She urged Nigerians to keep faith with God in any situation they found themselves.
Malam Muhammed Dantani, Secretary of the Disabled Community, appealed to the Federal Government to consider them as it shared palliatives to the less privileged in the society.
He said that such gesture would cushion the effects of the lockdown on them.
Dantani, who spoke on behalf of members of the community, said it was only those with good heart that remembered the less privileged.
“It is only those with the heart of God that remember us at a time like this; others discriminate against us when they see us.
“We are still expecting that the Federal Government will keep to its word and reach out to us as it promised and as it is doing to other less privileged in the society,” he said.
Dantani, however, called on other NGOs and good spirited private individuals with the capacity to give, to emulate Riche Faith Foundation for its concern and good gesture.
He prayed to God to continue to bless the Foundation and the country’s leadership as well as deliver the people from the Coronavirus pandemic currently ravaging the world.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that items shared to members of the community included: noodles, rice, vegetable oil, garri and salt, among others.
Some members of the community, who spoke with NAN, expressed gratitude to the Foundation, saying there was need for other philanthropists to emulate its gesture.
NAN reports that Igbineweka and other officials of the Foundation were received at the palace of the Emir of the Disabled Community in Koro-Majiji, a small settlement in the FCT. (NAN)
