Man, 29, docked for allegedly receiving stolen property

Osogbo, March 19, 2020 (NAN) A 29-year-old Adewale Aliyu was on Thursday docked before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving a stolen property.
Aliyu is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and unlawful possession.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Olusegun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 12 at 2.00p.m at Obale area of Osogbo.
Olusegun said the defendant conspired with one Kazeem Ashif to receive a stolen Bajaj Motorcycle valued at N182, 000 without finding out how he got it.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 516 and 427 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Law of Osun, 2002.
Aliyu, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Mr Okobie Najite, urged the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Aishat Oloyade, granted the defendant bail of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oloyade said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with evidence of tax payment and passport photographs attached, with an affidavit of means.
She adjourned the case until April 17 for hearing. (NAN)
