Man, docked for impersonating as Bolt driver

Lagos, March 10, 2020 (NAN) A 53-year-old man, Akeem Oladapo, who allegedly posed as a Bolt driver in order to kidnap a man, on Tuesday appeared in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bolt is a commercial fleet powered by technology whereby passengers can arrange and pay for trips handled by only employees in the franchise.
Oladapo was brought on a three-count charge of conspiracy, attempted kidnap and impersonation.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Oladele Adebayo, had told the court that the defendant had committed the offences on Jan. 21, at 8:40p.m. on 3rd Mainland Bridge.
He alleged that the defendant in an attempt to kidnap the complainant, one Bolaji Adeyemi, had impersonated as a Bolt driver when the complainant had booked a trip on the Bolt application to Onikan.
He said that after further investigations it was revealed that the defendant was not registered on the Bolt network as an employee.
The offences according to him contravened Sections 3 and 4(c) of the Kidnapping Prohibition Laws of Lagos State, 2017.
The offence also contravened Section 380(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr O.O. Olatunji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until April 1 for mention. (NAN)
