Solid Minerals Minister to deliver UNILAG’s 2016/2017 Convocation lecture

Lagos, Jan. 10, 2017 (NAN) Solid Mineral Developmen Minister Dr Kayode Fayemi will deliver a lecture on “Building a Successor-Generation: Reflections on Values and Knowledge in Nation Building’’, at the 2016/2017 convocation of the University of Lagos.
The institution’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Dr Toyin Adebule, said in a statement availed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that the lecture would hold on Jan. 23.
The statement said the lecture which would be chaired by retired Maj.-Gen. Ike Nwachukwu, was part of the activities lined up for the ceremony.
It said that a pre-convocation news conference would hold on Jan. 18 to herald the event one week event.
The statement added that there would be congregation for the award of First degrees, Diplomas, Certificates as well as announcement of prize winners for graduands.
It said the Day One of the convocation proper on Jan. 24, was for graduating students of the Faculties of Arts, Education, Environmental Sciences, Science and Social Sciences.
“On Day Two, Jan. 25, there shall be congregation for the awards of First degrees, Diplomas, Certificates and the announcement of Prize winners also.
“This time, it will be for graduating students of the Faculties and Institutes of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences and Business Administration.
“Others are the Faculties of Engineering, Law, Pharmacy and the Distance Learning Institute (DLI),’’ the statement said.
According to the statement, on the third and final day of the convocation ceremony, the congregation for the award of Higher Degrees of the School of Post-graduate studies will hold.
It said that the event slated for Jan. 26, would also witness award of best Researcher and also conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees, Emeritus Professorship and Distinguished Professorship,’’ it said. (NAN)
