Monarch urges Ogun govt. to upgrade OSCOHTECH to polytechnic

Ilese (Ogun), March 5, 2020 (NAN) The Elese of Ilese-Ijebu, Oba Oluremi Obayomi, has appealed to Gov. Dapo Abiodun to upgrade the Ogun College of Health Technology (OSCOHTECH), Ilese-Ijebu to a polytechnic.
Obayomi made the appeal on Thursday when the Special Adviser to the Governor on Student Matters, Azeez Adeyemi, visited the institution.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adeyemi’s visit was in continuation of his assessment tour of institutions across the state.
Obayomi urged the governor to urgently do so since the state House of Assembly had passed a bill to that effect.
The monarch, who was represented by one of his chiefs, Bayo Kazeem, said that the upgrade would enable the institution draw funds from the Federal Government through TETFUND and thus lead to reduction in the school fees by the students.
The monarch noted that the institution remained the oldest in the state, adding that a lot still needed to be done in terms of infrastructure.
The Deputy Provost of the institution, Dr Olajide Arowolo, commended the governor for the good job he had done so far, particularly in the education sector.
He, however, called on government to help put a stop to encroachment on the institution’s land.
In his response, Adeyemi appreciated the institution’s management for sustaining the standard of the school.
The special adviser assured that the governor would never deprive the students of their fundamental human rights.
While noting that government alone could not solve all the challenges facing the institution, he, however, promised that, at least, 70 percent of the challenges would be taken care of by the current administration.
Adeyemi stressed that government would ensure that there was mutual relationship among the students, management, the police and the host communities. (NAN)
