NAFOWA offers free medical treatment, renovates nomadic school in Kaduna

Kaduna, March 30, 2019 (NAN) The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA), on Saturday offered free medical treatment to Kauya Community in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NAFOWA also inaugurated a renovated block of classrooms at Nomadic Primary School and a borehole in Kafin Ganye, Kirama village also in Igabi LGA.
NAN also reports that the outreach covered eye treatment, blood pressure and diabetics testing/treatment and donation of treated mosquito nets to pregnant women, among others.
The NAFOWA National President, Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar, said the medical outreach and community development activities were carried out in commemorating the NAF at 55.
Abubakar was represented by the Vice President, NAFOWA, Mariya Anebi.
According to her, the association believes that by extending the hand of love and friendship to this community through this initiative, the association would be fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility.
“We are doing this today to support and appreciate this community for being gracious host to the NAF these past years,’’ Abubakar said.
Abubakar said that the NAFOWA Skill Acquisition and Vocational Training Programme had trained over 2,000 participants in different vocations and trades.
“As our husbands in the Air Force have committed their lives for others to live in peace, so has NAFOWA been committed to solving problems around us to further enhance peace.
“I will like to encourage us to continue to be good host and neighbours to NAF and let this outreach further cement the good relationship between the two communities.
“When there is cooperation like this, it can only lead to more mutually beneficial initiatives,’’ she said.
The NAFOWA president commended the Chairperson, Air Training Command Kaduna, Dr Safiya Sulaiman, as the brain behind the whole initiative, saying she had truly done well.
The Special Guest of honour, the Wife of Kaduna State Governor, Arch. Hadiza El-Rufai, said the occasion testified to the long-standing amiable relationship which existed between the NAF and the people of Kaduna State.
El-Rufai said it was really heart-warming that NAFOWA thought it proper to impact the lives of Kaduna State people resident in the Kauya/Kirama area as well as the entire Igabi LGAs.
“I am deeply touched at your choice of renovation of Nomadic Primary School at Kirama at a time when we have witnessed some rancour and distrust among brother communities.
“Such initiative would enable bonding and regeneration of the spirit of oneness for which we are known in Kaduna.
“I want to also acknowledge the impact you make to the larger society by your generous offer of free health care to these communities.
“I want to state my full support to your effort in collaboration with Kaduna State Ministry of Health to provide assistance to Vesico-Vaginal Fistula (VVF) patients in Kaduna,’’ she said.
She said that on her part, she would not fail to provide the needed nod of approval for any venture which would be of benefit to the people of the state.
El-Rufai thanked the international agencies present and the head of military and civil societies for their support in contributing to the advancement of the state. (NAN)
