Nasarawa govt. prioritises education sector, says commissioner

Keffi (Nasarawa State) March 16, 2020 (NAN) The Nasarawa State Government says it will continue to prioritise the education sector to ensure sustainable development of the state.

Hajiya Fati Sabo, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, stated this on Monday during a visit to Government College, Keffi in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

She noted that education is pivotal to the development of any society, hence the state government’s commitment in that direction.

The commissioner said that the visit was to assess the situation of the school  with the view of addressing indentified  challenges.

Sabo urged the teachers to take their work seriously in order to impact the students with the requisite knowledge for the realisation of their career dream.

Sabo said: “I am here to see things for myself, how the students are doing among others.

“The state government is committed to the education sector considering the importance of education to societal development.

“No nation will achieve meaningful progress and development without sound and quality education.”

Sabo asserted that the state government was doing its best to reform the sector  through the construction and renovation of schools across the state.

She urged the students to be dedicated to their studies in order to excel in their academic pursuit, adding that hard work was the surest avenue to success in life.

The Commissioner restated the state government’s determination to initiate good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the welfare of teachers and students.

The principal, Mr Idris Ohimege, while receiving the commissioner, thanked her  for the visit and assured of management and staff  dedication towards  the growth of the school.

In his remarks, Mr. Edward Ujege, the President General, Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA), who was in the school at the time of the visit, lauded the state government for paying attention to the development of the school. (NAN)
