Nasarawa North royal fathers woo Southern colleagues ahead of 2019

Awe (Nasarawa), Jan. 20, 2017 (NAN) Traditional rulers from Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone have called for the support of their Southern counterparts toward producing the State Governor in 2019.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the royal fathers made the call at the palace of the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, when they visited him on Friday.

In their individual submissions, the royal fathers said that the call had become necessary to enable power shift to the northern part of the state which they said had never produced a governor since Nasarawa was created in October, 1996.

The traditional rulers, led by the Chief of Wamba, Alhaji Lawal Musa-Nagogo, argued that it was the turn of the zone to produce the state’s next governor.

“Helping the north to produce the governor will be in the interest of fairness and justice,” he said.

 Musa-Nagogo, however, charged traditional rulers to eschew political differences and work toward justice for all.

 Responding, Umar said that the agitation of the northern zone to produce the next state governor was “legitimate and justified”.

He, however, stressed that politicians should play the game according to the rules, and assured the visitors of his support.

He further called on politicians to always avoid politics of bitterness.

NAN reports that the delegation that included the Chum-Mada, Mr Samson Gamuyare, the Gom-Mama, Alhaji Audu Nuhu, and many others, also visited Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu-Ogah, Usana of Keana, Alhaji Abdullahi Amegwa, Azara, and Dr Kabir Isah-Ibrahim, Osuko of Obi. (NAN)
