NASENI seeks partnership with investors, captains of industries on products commercialisation

Abuja, March 8, 2018 (NAN) The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has called on investors and captains of industries to select out of the catalogue of the agency’s products for commercialisation.

Mr Mohammed Haruna, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, made the call during NASENI Day at the ongoing Technology and Innovation Expo 2018 in Abuja.

‘’Some of the products include the design and development of the e-voting solution for Nigeria, the NASENI multi-purpose Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone) which was developed locally.

‘’We have the wholly first made-in-Nigeria jet engine, first  made-in-Nigeria solar panel and products, first made-in-Nigeria propeller turbines, first made-in-Nigeria motorcycle, smart energy metre for electricity, among others,” he said.

He said that no fewer than 37 new products were produced for exhibition at this year’s techno expo.

He said the agency believed that development and investment in science and technology sector remained the only sure way for Nigeria’s path to self-sufficiency and diversification of the economy and non-oil exports.

NASENI, according to him, subscribes to the truth that only science and technology guarantees sustainable development.

“NASENI capabilities proves therein that within Nigeria exits the possibilities of taking our people out of poverty and misery, through deploying our engineering innovations, technologies, researches and other scientific results using locally sourced manpower and materials.’’

According to Haruna, NASENI inventions and technologies are targeted at enhancing investors’ enterprise.

He said the local research and development of technology and inventions, production of machines, spare parts are guarantees to entrepreneurs that Nigeria possesses all it took for investors to look inwards for needed human capital resource and capabilities to sustain any industrial venture.

The agency boss acknowledged that no economy in the world ever developed without leadership of the private sector.

‘’Home initiated and sustained science, technology, innovation and private sector leadership are the doorways to sustainable economic recovery for Nigeria.

“It is the secret of the Asian Tigers, the magic of Europe and the culture of Americans.

‘’We crave for your partnership in this journey to revamp the nation’s economy in line with the Nigeria’s 2017-2020 Medium Term Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of the Federal Government.”

The objectives of the expo include promotion of Research and Development (R&D) activities, commercialising R & D results and products and services of research in tertiary institutions.

Also inventors/innovators and manufacturing sector  showcase their achievements and breakthroughs in the science, technology, innovators at the expo organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology. (NAN)
