NSCDC deploys 3,500 personnel for Oyo State LG election

Ibadan, May 9, 2018 (NAN) The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),Oyo State Command, on Wednesday said it had deployed 3,500 personnel for the conduct of the Local Government Election schedule to hold in the state on May 12.

In a statement issued by the command’s Public Relation Officer, Superintendent Oluwole Olusegun, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the corps said the stage was set for the success of the election.

The statement quoted the NSCDC state Commandant, John Adewoye, as saying that “sniffer Dogs, ambulance and arms squad will be deployed to strategic places across the state during the election”.

“I wish to inform the general public that the command has put in place adequate security measures for the local government elections across the 33 local government areas and 35 LCDA’S.

“The Divisional officers have expressed their readiness towards the forthcoming local council election by mounting surveillance at identified flash spots in their divisional areas to curb any act of lawlessness on election day,’’ Adewoye said.

Adewoye urged the officers and men of the corps that would work in 3,886 wards and 4,783 polling booths in the state to abide by the electoral laws and be good ambassadors of NSCDC.

He also enjoined the traditional rulers, community leaders and religious leaders to warn their subjects to conduct themselves in a manner that would not bring violence to their vicinity.

Adewoye said further that the NSCDC and other security agencies were ready to deal decisively with anyone attempting to breach the peace in the state before, during and after the election.(NAN)
