Oyo Deputy Speaker rallies support for Gov. Ajimobi’s education reforms

Ibadan, July 23,2017 (NAN) Mr Musa Abdulwasi, Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, said the various reforms in the state’s education sector embarked upon by the State Government deserved the support of stakeholders.

Abdulwasi said the reforms were aimed at improving the standard of education  in the state.

He stated this  on Sunday in Ibadan at the 2016/2017 Recognition Day and Walimah (celebration) of Mimbar Children School.

The Deputy Speaker said the state government was interested in the students’ good upbringing, stressing that this explained  why the state government embarked  on the reforms.

He urged the pupils to  cultivate good morals in addition to focusing on their academic pursuits.

He commended the standard of  teaching and learning at the Mimbar School in view of its  solid foundation, which he said, every parent should be proud of.

Mr Akinwale Akinlabi, Director of the school, said that the school was build on three core values: Faith, Leadership and Knowledge, with the intention of molding the children on these values.

Akinlabi commended the contribution of the parents in spite of the current recession in the country, saying, one the thing that was making the school to grow was the passion and support from the parents.

Alhaji Taofeek Odukoya, the Chairman of  the school’s Parent Teachers Association (PTA), urged the graduating students to be  good ambassadors  of their Alma Mater at all times.

Odukoya also advised parents and guardians  to invest in the education their children, adding that  such investment  would yield good dividends including a  brighter future.

Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Special Assistant on Media to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to  the President on Diaspora and a parent, urged the graduating students to give their best in their academic pursuits.

Balogun also urged them to continue to seek for knowledge.

He said  that the importance of education could not be overemphasised in view of the injunction of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) that Muslims should seek knowledge from cradle to grave.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 17 pupils had their graduation and Qur’anic Walimat  in addition to  presentation of awards to outstanding pupils and members of staff. (NAN)
