Jos, March 17, 2020 (NAN) The Speaker, Plateau House Assembly, Abok Ayuba, has urged clerics to pray for people in positions of authority to enable them to succeed.
Ayuba made the call on Tuesday in Jos when the Christian Association Nigeria (CAN) committee organising Easter Unity prayers visited him.
The speaker told the committee that prayers strengthened the leaders and kept them going.
“As leaders we go through a lot but your prayers are what are sustaining us.
“It is not easy, sometimes we struggle to make sure that the right things are done for the people of the state.
“We always feel strengthened when religious leaders like you visit us because we cannot do anything here without God.
“Those of us in the house at the moment are not better than the people that contested election with us and lost but God allowed us to contribute our quota to the development of Plateau,” he said.
He thanked those who had been standing for Plateau in terms of prayers, saying that the state would not have been where it was without prayers.
The speaker assured the committee that members of the assembly would attend the prayers slated for April 13.
Rev. Bawa Audu, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the event, told the speaker that they were in his office to invite him and his colleagues for the Easter unity prayers.
Audu said that the prayers organised by Jos North chapter of CAN was for Christians of all denominations.
He said that the Christian faithful would be praying for unity, peace and progress of the land. (NAN)
