Kwara INEC seeks traditional rulers support, prayer for 2023 polls

Ilorin, Jan. 24, 2023 (NAN) The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kwara has urged traditional rulers in state to help promote peace and pray for successful conduct of the upcoming general elections.
He also urged the traditional rulers to lead in prayer for a successful election in Kwara and Nigeria at large.
Besides, Madami called on the public to observe the rules of personal and public safety.
He promised that the commission would be neutral and everybody would continue to enjoy peace.
He added that 17 political parties in the state wrote him a letter that they like the way Kwara INEC is neutral and agreed to sign peace accord.
The state Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Olusegun Adeyemi, said that the agency is ready to sensitise residents on how to vote correctly and thumb print, and not to thumb print on the margin.
He urged people to shun vote buying and vote selling.
He applauded INEC and Federal Government for the introduction of BVAs, assuring that the era of vote riging is gone forever.
Responding, Sulu Gambari assured the INEC of his support in order to ensure peace.
The first class traditional ruler however advised the commission against partisanship.
He promised to organised prayer session where they would recite Qur’an morning, afternoon and night for the success of election. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
