Sales rep. in court for allegedly stealing employer’s N819,000

Abuja, March. 4, 2020 (NAN)A Sales representative, Ibrahim Friday, 23, who allegedly stole his employer’s N819,600 to pay a native doctor’s consultation fee, on Wednesday, appeared in a Lugbe Grade I Area Court, Abuja.

The defendant , who resides in Lugbe is charged with theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that the matter was reported by the complainant, Abisoye Wahab of Area 11 Garki Abuja, at the Lugbe Police Station on Feb. 26.

Ukagha alleged that the complainant employed the defendant as a sales representative in his shop in Lugbe.

She also alleged that the defendant criminally stole the complainant’s N819, 600 and absconded.

The prosecutor told the court that efforts made to recover the money from the defendant failed.

She said that the defendant in his confessional statement, admitted that he used the money to pay an online native doctor to boost his boss’s business.

Ukagha said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 289 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq , admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N800, 000 with a reliable surety in like sum.

Sadiq ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until March 11 for further hearing.  (NAN)
