See your appointment as sacrifice to serve Nasarawa – Gov. Sul urges Commissioners

Lafia, Nov 20, 2019 (NAN) Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has urged the newly- inaugurated members of the State Executive Council to regard their appointment as a sacrifice to serve the state.

Sule made the call during the inaugural meeting of the council at Government House, Lafia, on Wednesday.

He also urged them to key into the development programmes of his administration.

He used the opportunity to update the council on the activities of his administration aimed at taking Nasarawa to the next level of development.

The governor, however, warned the commissioners to avoid making policy statements without the permission to do so.

“ Before your appointments, you could afford to say anything, but must be careful now, because whatever you say will be taken as the position of the government.

“If you go out from this meeting today, everybody would want to know what happened from you, so you have to be careful on what you say.

“If you are not careful, you can either make commitment on things the government did not plan or embarrass the government,” he said.

Sule also said already, he had been able to achieve most of the promises made to the people of the state during his inauguration.

“We installed solar powered streetlights in all Local Government Areas, launched construction of rural roads, commenced construction of schools with toilets and offices for staff.

“We carried out free healthcare services in the three Senatorial Districts, enrolled empowerment programmes for youths and women.

“Other things we have been able to achieve include restructuring of the civil service, restoration of full payments of pension,” he said.

The governor expressed gratitude to the Speaker and members of the House of the State Assembly for screening and approving the 15 commissioner-list sent to the house.

He said that the approval showed that the Commissioners were highly competent and would bring their wealth of experience to bear in delivering good governance to the people .

The Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Aliyu Tijjani, presented the newly- inaugurated council to the governor. (NAN)
