Housewife denies kidnapping 2 College of Health Technology, Zawan, Plateau students

Jos, March 9, 2020 (NAN) A housewife, Hindatu Sirajo, on Monday said that she had nothing to do with the disappearance of two missing two students of  the College of Health Technology, Zawan, Plateau.

The defendant, is charged with kidnapping Rowland Stephen and Darlington James, whose whereabouts remained unsolved on March 11, 2018 while on their way to attend a wedding ceremony in Bassa LGA of Plateau.

Being led in evidence by her counsel, Mr Nantok Dashur, in her testimony in a Federal High Court in Jos, Sirajo however admitted that cell phone Sim Card used to get in contact with Darlington’s mother belonged to her.

The Prosecution had claimed that the kidnappers of the two students had used the accused line to allow Darlington speak with his mother assuring her that all was well with them.

But during cross-examination by the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Gideon Azi, Sirajo admitted that each time that the mother of Darlington calls her, she would reply “wrong number” and end the call.

Azi asked, ” but do you still stand by your words in your statement that whenever a call came in to you in English, you always reply “wrong number” even when it’s Darlington’s mother’s? She said, “,yes.”

“I put it to you that on April 4, 2018, you allowed Darlington, one of the kidnapped students, to use your line to speak with his mother telling her “we are alive? Azi asked, but Sirajo denied it.

Shortly after the cross-examination, Dashur, who did not re-examine the accused, told the court that he was through with his defense and applied for an adjournment for the adoption of final written addresses by both parties in the matter.

After the defendant’s testimony, Justice Dorcas Agishi, adjourned the case until April 7 for adoption of final written addresses.

NAN reports that the State Ministry of Justice, through its counsel, called a witness from MTN, who provided to the court the “call log” of the accused Sim Card (line) as evidence.

MTN alleged that the owner of the said Sim Card registered it in Kano in 2016.

But the accused, who is from Sokoto State, claimed that she bought the said Sim Card in the and  registered it for N200. (NAN)
