Court revokes bail granted sales representative

Kaduna, March 11 2020(NAN) A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday revoked the N100,000 bail granted a 26-year-old sales representative, Stephen Elisha, over his failure to appear in court after several adjournments.
Revoking the bail, the Magistrate, Umar Ibrahim, ordered the Police to arrest Elisha and remand him in a correctional centre.
”The defendant’s bail is hereby revoked. He be arrested and kept in custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
“As for the surety, court orders him to appear in court within 24 hours, If he fails to do so, he will forfeit his bail bond,’’ Ibrahim held.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant disappeared te day the court admitted him to bail on Oct. 10, 2019.
He urged the court to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of the defendant and his bail should be revoked.
The defendant was first arraigned on Oct. 10, 2019 for conspiracy and extortion, contrary to sections 97 and 292 of the Kaduna State Penal Code.
The defendant had pleaded not guilty to the charge. (NAN)
