State association chairman provides equipment, kits for Enugu boxers

Enugu, March 12, 2020 (NAN) The Chairman of Enugu State Boxing Association (ESBA), Osondu Ogbu, has provided the state’s boxers with equipment and kits to enhance their training in the state, an official has said.

The state boxing coach, Blaise Ude, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Thursday that Ogbu, in providing the equipment and kits, fulfilled the promise he earlier made.

“He made the promise the last time he visited the state and he has sent the kits and equipment to us.’’

Ude said the equipment include five skipping ropes, five boxing gloves, three punching bags and one weighing professional scale.

The coach thanked members of the state association board and in particular the chairman for their efforts in ensuring that boxing excelled in the state.

When contacted, Ogbu said he was committed to taking boxing to higher heights both in the state and the South-East zone.

“As the state association chairman and South-East representative on the national federation board, I deem it necessary to contribute immensely to boxing development,” he said.

Ogbu then urged the state’s boxers to prepare well and do the state proud at the National Sports Festival (NSF) in Edo.

The chairman disclosed that he made the promise when he visited the boxers alongside the other Association board members and the boxers had outlined their needs.

“The boxers mentioned many things, which includes punching bags, boxing gloves and others.

“Even though I sent some items to them, but I still have well-equipped first aid boxes for them and, by Friday, they will reach them,” Ogbu said.

He urged the boxers to always be focused and prove their worth through a judicious use of all the equipment provided.
