3SC’ll secure promotion ticket to NPFL, Gov. Makinde assures fans

Ibadan, Dec. 22, 2019 (NAN) Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Sunday in Ibadan assured supporters of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan that the team would secure promotion ticket this season.

He gave the assurance at the Lekan Salami Stadium at Adamasingba in Ibadan afyer a match involving 3SC and Ekiti United Football Club of Ado-Ekiti.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 3SC took on Ekiti United FC in a week 5 match of the 2019/2020 Nigeria National League (NNL).

NAN reports also that 3SC defeated Ekiti United 1-0 through an 87th minute goal by Chinedu Enuademu.

The governor expressed optimism that 3SC were due for promotion into the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

“3SC are due for promotion into the NPFL this season and our administration will do everything humanly possible to ensure the club are promoted. We must regain the club’s lost glory,” he said.

Makinde said his being there on Sunday to watch the match was to support the team and ensure the team secured a promotion ticket into NPFL from their group.

NNL: Bendel Insurance FC beat 3SC to go top of Group B1

Benin, Nov. 5, 2018 (NAN) Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin on Monday brightened their chances of returning to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after 11 years of languishing in the lower league.

The Insurers came from behind to defeat visiting 3SC of Ibadan 2-1 in a replayed 2017/2018 Nigeria National League (NNL) match in Benin.

The replay match was abandoned on Sunday due to poor visibility caused by rainfall.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 3SC had taken the lead in the third minute of the game through Isiaka Mutiu on Sunday, before the rains stopped play.

Insurance FC, however, got the equaliser in the 56th minute of the game through Kabiru Abdulahi, when both sides returned to the match on Monday.

Charles Omokaro then converted a penalty kick for Insurance FC in added time, after a 3SC player was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area.

With the result, Insurance FC now head Group B1 of the NNL with 29 points with one game in hand, against Spartans FC of Agege.

3SC, their nearest challengers, are with 28 points and have played their last group match which was against Insurance FC.

Speaking afterwards, Bauldwin Bazuaye, Bendel Insurance FC’s head coach, commended his players for beating 3SC.

Bazuaye said he was happy that his players played to instructions and deserved to win.

Speaking also after the match, the Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, said the team did a great job by coming from behind to win the game.

“The win was a well-deserved one, because Insurance FC have been out of the professional league for the past 11 years now and I believe this win will take us to the top of our group,” he said.(NAN)

3SC sacks Amoo as club’s head coach

Ibadan, Oct. 23, 2017 (NAN) The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has relieved Fatai Amoo of his appointment as 3SC’s Technical Adviser, the club said on Monday in a statement in Ibadan.

In the statement by the club’s Media Officer, Jubril Arowolo, it also said management was reviewing the status of other members of the club’s technical crew.

The club which will play in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season commended the former Technical Adviser for his commitment and input during his period with the team.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former Nigeria Under-23 coach was appointed 3SC’s Technical Adviser in November 2016 to replace the then Club Chief Coach, Gbenga Ogunbote.

Amoo headed the 3SC technical crew in the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) when the team got relegated to the 2017/2018 NNL.

“`We will review the status of all the remaining technical crew members, and appropriate decisions will soon be made on them,’’ the club said..

It explained that the decision to relieve Amao of his contract with the club came after the team’s performance in the NPFL last season was evaluated.

“However, the management acknowledges the efforts of Amoo to inspire the team during the past season.

“We wish him success in his future endeavours as we will not forget his positive impact on the team.”(NAN)

3SC begin restructuring, release 20 players into transfer market

Ibadan, Oct. 2, 2017 (NAN) Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Monday said they have released 20 out of the 40 players they registered for the last Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

The club’s management, in a statement in Ibadan by its Media Officer, Jubril Arowolo, said this was part of their ongoing restructuring programme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 3SC were, after the 2016/2017 season, relegated from the NPFL to the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the 2017/2018 season.

The statement disclosed that the decision to release the players and place them in the transfer market was taken after evaluating the performances of every player in the team.

It listed players retained to include Abubakar Adamu, Michael Uweru, Kayode Bankole, Seun Akinyemi, Alaba Osawe, Omololu Waheed, Opeyemi Adetoyi, Oginni Olatubosun, Ayobami Abiodun (Jnr), Shile Ibrahim and Sunday Faleye.

Others are Jide Apena, Abayomi Adebayo, Rafiu Wasiu, Shittu Taiwo, Isiaq Rafiu, Ajani Ibrahim, Kunle Olukokun, Bode Daniel and Sherrif Sanda.

“The club’s remaining 20 players, whose names did not appear on the list, have been placed on transfer and will not be part of the team when the new season commences,’’ the statement announced.

It added that a number of new players would be added to the list of the players retained after a thorough screening, for the list of players for the 2017/2018 season.

The statement went further to disclose that the club’s management had woken up to the realities of its team playing in the NNL next season.

“We will do everything possible to return to the NPFL within the shortest period.

“The evaluation of the team however continues, and fans will see a better and improved Shooting Stars next season,’’ it said.(NAN)

We’re optimistic we’ll survive relegation, 3SC coach says

Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday said the club was optimistic its team would survive relegation from the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Agoye told newsmen in Ibadan that their 1-0 victory over visiting Akwa United Football Club of Uyo in a Match Day 37 fixture had helped to reinforce their optimism.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Oluyole Warriors secured victory through a penalty kick scored by Seun Akinyemi in the 81st minute of the game.

3SC were awarded the penalty kick after an Akwa United defender committed a foul in the penalty area.

In spite of the victory, 3SC will still have to secure the maximum points from their next and final game of the season against Niger Tornadoes to avoid relegation.

This was as a result of other Match Day 37 fixtures.

The Oluyole Warriors though remained 16th on the table with 50 points, sharing same points with Wiki Tourists in 17th position, while ABS FC are 18th with 47 points.

Agoye said while they were happy regarding the victory, they were however hopeful that the club would survive relegation from the NPFL.

“We are very happy with this victory, even though it was as a result of the fact that we were determined before the match to secure the three points at stake.

“We knew it was going to be difficult playing a team that is rated as one of the best football clubs in the NPFL at the moment and has one of the best coaches in the country.

“We knew we will win if we are resolute, focused and determined to
get the three points,’’ he said.

The coach however pointed out that the club’s destiny was now in its hands, adding
that the club has to give its best in the last game to keep it in the NPFL.

He added that the players must give their best in the last game of the season to secure the maximum points to avoid the club being relegated.

Agoye observed that the team at the beginning of the season did not do well, but was able to pick up the threads as the season progressed.

“This is the important time of the season and we are picking up. Hopefully we will pick the maximum points in the last game of the season and survive relegation.’’(NAN)

3SC management warns technical crew on team’s poor performance in NPFL

Ibadan, June 12, 2017 (NAN) The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has issued an ultimatum to the team’s technical crew to find a way of saving it from relegation or be sacked.

Gbolagade Busari, the Executive Chairman of 3SC, gave the ultimatum at an emergency management meeting of the club in Ibadan on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 3SC, known as the Oluyole Warriors, are presently battling against being relegated from the season 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

3SC, who were second to the last on the NPFL log, lost 0-1 to MFM Football Club of Lagos in their last away match in Lagos on Sunday.

Busari said it is the technical crew that should save the club from being relegated from the NPFL, or else its members should face the consequences.

He said the technical crew would henceforth be evaluated on a match-to-match basis, adding that the management would no longer hesitate to wield the big axe.

“The team has a crop of young and promising players who can excel in the league and it is the duty of the technical crew to mould them into a successful side,” the club chairman said.

He warned that the club management would not tolerate any excuse from the technical crew if it failed to put adequate measures in place to ensure that the team escaped relegation.

Similarly, Abayomi Oke, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, said government would intensify efforts in supporting the team in its bid to bring back the club’s lost glory.

Oke added that the team’s teeming supporters, who were not happy with the team, would soon have smiles on their faces.(NAN)

Hosts 3SC beat Niger Tornadoes 2-1

Ibadan, April 9, 2017 (NAN) Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna 2-1 in a Match Day 18 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 3SC got their opening goal through Sunday Faleye in the 38th minute.

Substitute Wilfred Angel equalised for the visitors in the 75th minute.

3SC got their second goal through Ivorian substitute Assiri Emmanuel who utilised Lekan Bola’s pass in the 81st minute.

After the match, coach Abubakar Bala of Niger Tornadoes said they lost the game because they lost concentration towards the end of the game.

“This is the third time we have lost in a similar way. I mean, loss of concentration cost us at least a draw here. We lost to Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars this same way.

“But we will work on our shortcomings,” Bala said. 

Speaking also, coach Fatai Amoo of 3SC lauded his players for winning the game, saying it was a great display from both teams.

“It is a fantastic display from two great teams and I must commend the effort of my players for the outcome of today’s match,” he said.(NAN)

3SC defeat El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0

Ibadan, March 29, 2017 (NAN) Hosts Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on Wednesday in Ibadan beat El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 1-0 in a 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 16 fixture.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 3SC got the lone goal two minutes into the second half through Junior Merenini.

NAN reports that the win was the second for the Oluyole Warriors in their last 10 games, after the win over Rangers International in Ibadan last Wednesday.

Both teams had a good game, but the home team were better and only wasted several of their goal scoring chances.

These included a penalty kick lost by Sunday Faleye in the eighth minute of the game, after he was brought down inside the penalty area.

After the match, coach Ladan Bosso of El-Kanemi Warriors lamented his players’ failure to convert their scoring chances to goals, adding that they were too wasteful in front of goal.

He said several chances were wasted, and this cost them total victory in Ibadan.

Bosso however promised they would continue to strive to stay comfortable on the league table.

“I must congratulate the 3SC. They deserve the win.

“As for my own side, I think there was a loss of concentration several times during the game. But we just need to go back and prepare for our next game.

“3SC were very consistent in the front and the midfield, but we got it wrong particularly in our finishing and that is why we found ourselves in this situation.

“We got chances upon chances after that goal against us, but my players were wasteful in front of goal, which would have got us a draw here,” he said.

Coach Fatai Amoo of 3SC, on his part, described the match as a tough one but thank God they were able to conquer their opponents.

“The game was very tough. We saw what we expected, but thank God we prepared because we knew that a team like El-Kanemi with its experienced coach and players would be tough.

“Luckily, I watched them when they played in Abia. I knew the game would be tough, but my players raised their game and we won.

“We will still continue to fight on to get the team to a comfortable place on the league table,” he said.(NAN)

Our target to pick continental ticket still within sight, Abia Warriors’ Biffo says

Ibadan, March 19, 2017 (NAN) Coach Abdullahi Biffo of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia on Sunday said his team’s target of winning a ticket to play on the continent next season was still achievable.

Biffo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan after the team forced Shooting Stars Sports Club to a goaless draw that they were determined to achieve the target.

NAN reports that the draw was recorded in a 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 14 game.

The coach said his team was in Ibadan with a determination of picking three points, saying the team was however unlucky.

Biffo said they would however have to return home to prepare very well for their next match against Kano Pillars, adding they would not allow the result to weigh them down.

“We will not allow today’s result to beat our head because we have a vital match at home next week against Kano Pillars.

“Everyone knows we cannot allow ourselves to come down again and that is why we must work hard to pick the three points against Kano Pillars.

“I don’t want to talk about where we would be on the table at mid-season now. I don’t even like to check the table because we still have lots of matches to play.

“Our target before the season started was to pick one of the continental tickets and the target is still alive,” he said.

The coach said the game was not easy to play, knowing fully well that 3SC drew their last two home matches.

Garuba Mohammed, the captain of Abia Warriors FC, on his part said he was happy with the result, noting that it would give them more confidence to win the next game.

Coach Fatai Amoo of 3SC said they were not really happy about the result of the match, even though he acknowledged that his team had shown improvement in its performance.

He said that the team was left to work on how to create and convert its goal scoring chances.

“All we want is to win our games and we will keep on working on performances till we get there,” Amoo said.

The coach said the team’s next game against defending champions Rangers International FC would be a very tough game, assuring that they would give their best.

He said all they needed was to give their best and take their chances to get the desired result.

Amoo said he was sure that his team would not be relegated at the end of the season, saying his players were just newly brought together and were gradually improving.

“I am very sure that by the end of the first stanza of the league, there would have been lots of improvement,” he said.

Also, Taiwo Shittu, a 3SC player, said they tried to convert their goal scoring chances in the game but were unlucky.

He said that they would not relent in efforts at getting their chances converted to goals.

NAN reports that the two teams played very well in the game but were unable to convert their chances.

Opeyemi Adetoyi of 3SC received the prize donated by Ibadan City Polytechnic as the man of match, while the spectators were entertained by Explicit Dancers Group.(NAN)

3SC force NPFL leaders Plateau United to 1-1 draw in Ibadan

Ibadan, March 5, 2017 (NAN) Hosts Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday forced 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Plateau United FC to a 1-1 draw in a Match Day 12 fixture.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ibe Johnson scored from a throw-in through a header to give the visiting Jos side the lead.

The home were however able to equalise in the 81st minute through a penalty kick by Adebayo Abayomi, after Bode Daniel was upended by a Plateau United defender.

3SC had struggled throughout to secure the three points from the game, but were frustrated by the delay tactics employed by the visiting team.

The home team failed to convert several goal scoring chances due to their weak forwardline.

NAN reports that Plateau United players clearly adopted delay tactics in the game, with several of their players falling on the pitch pretending to be injured.

Crisis nearly erupted on the pitch of play during the game, following complaints by the 3SC side of bad officiating by the centre referee.

But this was managed with the intervention of the Match Commissioner.

However, coach Fatai Amoo of 3SC blamed the draw on weak finishing on his players’ part, adding that it was not an issue of creating chances but finishing well.

He said what was now left for the team was to work very hard on taking their chances in every game.

Coach Kennedy Boboye of Plateau United FC, on his part, said they went into the game to win but his players failed to convert their goal scoring chances.

Boboye said his players wasted several of their chances, but he still maintained that they gave their best in the game.

However, a handful of 3SC supporters were unhappy with the game’s poor officiating, saying the country’s football would not grow in such a situation.

Adeyemi Lukmon, a member of the club’s Supporters Club, told NAN he had expected the centre referee to sanction Plateau United players, who adopted delay tactics on the pitch.

“I think you also can see how the Plateau United players were just falling on the pitch throughout the match without contact and the centre referee could not sanction them.

“I wish the League Management Company (LMC) officials will also take a look at the game’s video tape to see these anomalies.

“I am afraid that football will not grow in this country with such acts,” he said.(NAN)
