Abuja, March 9, 2020 (NAN) The Teacher’s Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has commenced the enforcement of its nationwide registration of teachers across the country to kick out non-professionals.

Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar of the Council, said this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.

He said the TRCN officials and state monitoring team leaders had started moving from schools to schools to ensure that members complied.

According to him, the exercise does not aim at witch-hunting members,  rather it is to sanitise the teaching profession.

“No serious country will leave the education of its future to charlatans. If we want to get our education right, we must get it right with the teachers.

“Quality teachers will translate to quality education.

“However, we have suspended the exercise in three states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe due to insurgence.” he said.

Ajiboye advised the  state coordinators to remember to carry the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) forms, registration forms and licensing forms while moving for the exercise. (NAN)
