Technician, trader docked for allegedly stealing, receiving aluminum conductor

Lagos, June 26, 2019 (NAN) Two men, John Adeniran and Christopher Iheme were on Wednesday docked before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing aluminum conductor worth N250,000.

Adeniran, 52, a technician and Iheme, 59, a trader, are facing charges of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Mishozumu, told the court that the defendants with some other persons still at large committed the offences on June 6 at 6:00 p.m. at Ikeja the Electric Distributing Company in Alausa, Ikeja.

Mishozumu said that Adeniran, who is a staff of the company stole the aluminum conductor, valued at N250, 000 from where it was kept, property of the Ikeja Electric Distributing Company.

The prosecutor said that Iheme received the stolen aluminum conductor.

Mishomuzu said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing.

The Magistrate, Mr O.D. Njoku, granted them bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until July 22 for mention. (NAN)
