Ibadan, Nov. 12, 2023 (NAN) A cleric, the Most Rev. Cyril Odutemu, on Sunday in Ibadan, charged everyone in Nigeria to live with the fear of God.

Odutemu, who is the Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province of Bendel, Ughelli in Delta, gave the advice while speaking on the topic “Evidence of Faith: The Fear of God”.

He said lack of fear of God had caused Nigeria to be in shambles as the fear of God was the beginning of wisdom.

“Fearing God is with a price though, because not all men will like you.

“Nigeria is super rich and, if the fear of God is in this country, the leadership needs to know that those who lead this nation need to be careful,” Odutemu said.

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the sermon was delivered during the Foundation Day Anniversary of the University of Ibadan (UI).

It was held at the institution’s Chapel of Resurrection, and it was part of activities marking the 75th anniversary of the University of Ibadan.

Also, speaking at the church service, the first female professor in Nigeria, Prof Felicia Ogunseye, has urged every Nigerian to stand with honesty, integrity and truth for God to bless them.

While praying for the prosperity of Nigeria, Ogunseye who was a pioneer student of UI and studied Library Studies in Nigeria, said all would be well for Nigeria.

“I hope God will surprise us and teach us what to do in Jesus’ name.

“I can recall my days at the inception of the institution when I got admitted at age 22.

”But I have been preserved by grace at age 97 to witness the 75th anniversary of the institution.

“I feel privileged and honoured and all the glory to God. God has been good to me.

“But you won’t believe it, that He has chosen me since I was three years old and taught me not to follow the crowd,” Ogunseye said.

NAN reports that the service featured reading of the scriptures by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, and the Registrar, Mr Ganiyu Saliu.

There was also the decoration of Prof. Ogunseye as one of the pioneer students of the university.

The UI Staff School also had its 75th anniversary thanksgiving during the church service.(NAN)
