VC has promised to inject more funds into sports development in FUD, spokesperson says

Dutse, May 9, 2017 (NAN) The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa, Prof. Fatima-Batul Mukhtar, has promised to inject more funds into sports development in the institution, an official said on Tuesday.
Abdullahi Yahaya, FUD’s spokesperson, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse that Mukhtar made the promise when she hosted the university’s contingent to the just-concluded NUGA Games recently.
The games were held at the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi, where FUD won a bronze medal in their first NUGA Games appearance.
Yahaya said the VC congratulated the team for making FUD proud.
He added that Mukhtar said the university would do all it could to continue to motivate the athletes for greater heights.
“The VC told the athletes that sports occupy a special place in her heart, and she promised that she would soon reorganise the university’s Sports Unit,’’ the spokesperson said.
Yahaya said the Vice-Chancellor also promised to inject more funds into sports development in the institution.
He said the VC further directed the Sports Unit to come up with estimates on projects which are of immediate priority to the unit.
Yahaya added that Mukhtar commended the immediate-past Director of Sports, Iliyasu Hussain, who has been appointed the Registrar of Jigawa State Polytechnic, for his immense contribution to the institutioon’s sports development.
He told NAN that the VC also commended the student-athletes for their wonderful performances during the Zone A NUGA Preliminaries hosted by the university from April 2 to April 8.
“Mukhtar described the students as excellent hosts because of the spirit of sportsmanship they displayed throughout the period,’’ Yahaya said.(NAN)
