Abuja, June 14, 2022 (NAN) The new Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Christopher Zakka, has called on the councillors to work with unity and have a common purpose of bringing dividends of democracy to the people.
Zakka gave the advice on Tuesday in Abuja while inaugurating the councillors representing the 12 wards in the council.
The new chairman and councillors of the six Area Council were elected on Feb. 12.
Zakka said it was important for the councillors to work with his administration for the development of the area council.
“As you take the oath of office today, it is important to know that we must deliver on our programmes and promises to the people.
“There must be unity, understanding and we must work together with a common purpose of giving our best.
“I am appealing to each of us to put aside the differences in our political platforms as we owe it a duty to uplift Abuja Municipal Area Council.
“We must endeavour to succeed as we cannot afford to fail,” he said.
In his hand over speech, the outgoing chairman of the area council, Mr Abdullahi Candido, while congratulating the chairman, urged him to uphold the council’s institutions established during his tenure.
Candido, who was represented by the Director of Administration, AMAC, Mr Atahiru Ibrahim, called on all technocrats as well civil servants in the area council to work with the incoming administration.
“Though we are leaving, we like to assure you that we are by the door, to quickly come in whenever our advice is needed.
“Part of what we are leaving behind as our most important contribution towards the growth and development of the council are our legacy institutional projects.
“They include AMAC Investment and Property Development Company, AMAC Microfinance Bank, AMAC Marshal, AMAC Community Radio and the AMAC ICT/Innovation Centre which is still under construction,” he said.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
