Woman docked over alleged breaking in, threat to assassinate homeowner

Ikeja, July 23, 2019 (NAN) A 46-year-old businesswoman, Nneka Eminiru, was on Tuesday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into a property and threatening to assassinate the owner.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Eminiru, whose residential address was not provided, is facing charges of conspiracy,  house breaking, stealing and threatening violence.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, ASP Peter Nwangwu, told the court that Eminiru committed the offences alongside others at large, at 5.30p.m. on Aug. 23, 2017, at No. 2, Ada Dimma Crescent, Iba New Site, Ojo, Lagos.

“The defendant and her accomplices, who are now at large, broke into the home of Mr James Agburam and stole  electronic home appliances valued at N2 million.

“Eminiru used armed thugs to prevent Agburam from entering into his home. She also threatened to pour acid on him and murder him with hired assassins,” Nwangwu said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 56, 287(1)), 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs Yewande Aje-Afunwa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N650,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said that one of the sureties must be a senior civil servant in Lagos State.

Aje-Afunwa adjourned the case until Sept. 24 for mention. (NAN)
