Yobe Govt. warns Resident Doctors over acts of sabotage

Damaturu, June 1, 2018 (NAN)  Yobe state government on Friday warned Resident Doctors in the state the state government would not condone any act aimed at derailing efforts at providing efficient and effective healthcare service to the people.

The State Commissioner of Health, Dr Bello Kawuwa, issued the warning in a statement in reaction to a 21-day ultimatum issued by the Doctors to government, to either address some issues or face industrial action.

Bello advised leadership of the Resident Doctors Association “to embrace dialogue and interface with the Ministry of Health and it’s agencies on matters relating to service, and not to resort to threats”.

“We will not be cajoled, intimidated or pushed into derailing from our vision of ensuring an efficient and effective healthcare system in Yobe state.

“Any element that is being used to sabotage the effort of the state government in making healthcare available and affordable to the people, will not succeed,” he warned.

The commissioner said the Resident Doctors Association “displayed ignorance or lack of regard for government operations and current developments in the state.”

He said government had sealed the issue of salary with the 100 per cent approval of COMMESS and CONHESS ,while promotion issues were handled through standard guidelines.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the resident doctors in the state on Wednesday issued a 21 day ultimatum for the state government to address reduction in their salaries after the approval of the COMMESS and CONHESS salary structure, as well as promotion matters.(NAN)
