Zakkat Commission distributes livestock, N5.2m in Sokoto

Sokoto, March 11, 2020 (NAN) The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission has distributed livestock and N5.2 million cash to the needy in the state.
Malam Muhammad Maidoki, the commission chairman said at the ceremony in Sokoto on Wednesday.
“Today’s activity is categorised into three different support projects, that include giving out Zakkat received from wealthy individuals.
“There are three cows and a goat received as Zakkat from Wamakko Farm, N400, 000 received from individuals and N4.8 million donated by the State Government as its monthly medical assistance to the needy.
“However, the N400,000 will be shared among 10 beneficiaries with each receiving N40,000.
“The monthly medical assistance will be paid to our various committees in hospitals and pharmaceutical stores across the state.
“Moreover, the four livestock will be shared among four beneficiaries among others,” he said.
He commended Sen. Aliyu Wamakko and various individuals that channelled their Zakkat through the commission.
The chairman thanked Gov. Aminu Tambuwal for sustaining the state’s monthly support to the needy through the commission.
Some of the benefiting hospitals included- Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital, Specialist Hospital, Sokoto, Kware Psychiatric Hospital and Wamakko Orthopedic Hospital with each receiving N500,000 cash.
While some of the benefiting pharmaceutical stores included- Zumunchi, Raudah and Binji Pharmacy with each receiving N400,000. (NAN)
