3000 traders benefit from FG trader-moni programme in Keffi LGA – Chairman

Keffi (Nasarawa State), Aug. 27, 2019 (NAN) Alhaji Abdulrahman Maigoro, the Executive Chairman, Keffi Local Government Council, Nasarawa State, says more than 3,000 traders will benefit from the Federal Government Traders Moni programme in the area.
Maigoro made this known on Tuesday while fielding questions from the nNews Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo launched the programme in Keffi.
The council boss lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for initiating the scheme aimed at addressing poverty through empowerment of traders across the country.
“We at the grassroots know how the programme has helped small scale traders fund their businesses, improve their lives, family members’ lives, thereby creating job opportunities.
“First and foremost, I want to commend the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari for initiating the Traders moni programme and other programmes towards tackling poverty in the country.
“This programme has impacted positively on the lives of many Nigerians especially the small scale traders and other traders.
“For example, some traders selling vegetables and other petty things need small amount of money to start or boost their businesses.
“And today, the programme has reached the door step of my people (traders); we are happy, the traders are happy and you were there, you have seen how traders are jubilating in the market.
“About 3,000 traders are benefiting from the trader moni programme in my area,” he said.
Maigoro however advised the beneficiaries to use the money for the purpose it was meant in order to improve their economic lives and that of their family members.
“I want to call on the beneficiaries to ensure proper utilisation of the funds in order to expand their businesses in their interest and for the overall development of the country,” he added.
Maigoro restated his continued commitment to initiate good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the area and the state at large.
Besides, he called on Nigerians to pray and support Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration to succeed.
The chairman also enjoined Nigerians to live in peace, be law abiding and respect constituted authorities in the interest of peace and national development. (NAN)
