NiMet predicts moisture laden winds, thunderstorms from Tuesday to Thursday

Abuja, March 30, 2020 (NAN) Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted moisture laden winds to extend up to the northwestern region from Tuesday to Thursday.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Monday in Abuja that forecast prospects of thunderstorms, announced that series of rainfall activities would be  recorded over the inland and coastal cities of the country.

“For Tuesday, sunny conditions are expected to prevail over the north apart from Yelwa and Gusau where partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are likely during the morning hours.

“The Central cities are expected to be in partly cloudy to sunny condition in the morning hours with chances of thunderstorms over Niger, Ilorin and the high ground cities of Jos, Gombe, Abuja.

“Southern Adamawa and Southern Taraba during the afternoon/evening period.

“The morning of the inland and coastal cities should predominantly be partly cloudy to cloudy with prospects of thunderstorms over Lagos, Southern Ondo, Delta, Yenegoa and Calabar,” it said.

According to the agency, thunderstorms are also expected over the inland and coastal cities during the afternoon/evening period.

It envisaged partly cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine expected over the northern region with prospects of thunderstorms over Yelwa and Gusau in the afternoon hours.

It forecast the central region in the morning to be in partly cloudy to sunny condition, with thundery activities over the high grounds of the central states later in the day.

NiMet predicted inland and coastal cities likely to be under cloudy conditions in the morning hours with prospect of thunderstorms over the Southeast coast.

It further predicted thunderstorms over the Southwest inland and Southeast coast during the afternoon/evening hours.

“For Thursday, partly cloudy to sunny condition should prevail over the north in the morning hours with prospect of thunderstorms over the northwest in the afternoon/evening period.

“The central cities should be mostly partly cloudy over the western flank and cloudy over the eastern flank in the morning hours while thunderstorms are anticipated during the afternoon/evening period.

“Cloudiness is anticipated over the inland and coastal cities in the morning with prospects of thunderstorms over the southeast coast in the morning hours.

“There are also prospects of thunderstorms over the coastal cities in the afternoon and evening period,” it said. (NAN)

Abuja, March 21, 2020 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted continuous influx of moisture laden winds from the coast up to northern parts of the country on Sunday.

NiMet’s weather outlook on Saturday in Abuja forecast further cloud building up as part of weather activities.

“For Sunday, partly cloudy to Sunny conditions are anticipated over the northern region throughout the forecast period.

“The central states are likely to be partly cloudy to cloudy throughout the day with parts of Niger, Kwara and Taraba States likely to experience thunderstorms during afternoon/evening hours.

“The inland cities are expected to experience cloudy conditions during morning hours. There are better prospect of thunderstorms in some inland and coastal cities like Osogbo, Ibadan, Enugu and Owerri axis during the afternoon/evening hours,” it said.

According to NiMet, partly cloudy to sunny conditions are anticipated over northern region on Monday with prospects of thundery activities over Gusau and Yelwa axis in the afternoon/evening period.

The agency envisaged central cities likely to be under partly cloudy to cloudy conditions in the morning hours with prospect of thunderstorms over parts of Kwara, Taraba, Niger, Kaduna and Abuja, while other cities would be under cloudy conditions during afternoon/evening hours.

It predicted chances of thunderstorm over parts of the southeastern cities during the morning hours which likely to persist into the afternoon/evening hours across the southern region.

“For Tuesday, partly cloudy to sunny conditions are expected over northern region with chances of thunderstorms over Yelwa axis during morning hours.

“The region will experience partly cloudy conditions during afternoon/evening hours with prospects of thunderstorms over Southern Borno, Zamfara and Kebbi states.

“The central states are to be under cloudy conditions during morning period with prospects of thunderstorms during both morning and afternoon/evening hours.”

According to NiMet, southern states will be under cloudy conditions in the morning period while thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of the southeast inland and coastal belt.

The agency further predicted that the region would experience thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening period. (NAN)

Abuja, March 17, 2020 (NAN) Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted increase in temperature values across the country from Wednesday to Friday with chances of thunderstorms over some parts of the central and the southern cities.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja predicted temperature of Yelwa and Jalingo as high as 40 degree Celsius.

“ For Wednesday, sunny condition is anticipated over the northern region during the morning/evening period. Partly cloudy conditions with spills of sunshine are anticipated over the central cities during the morning/evening period.

“ Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are likely over the inland cities of the south with chances of thunderstorm over Edo and Ondo axis during the afternoon/evening period.

“Cloudiness is expected over the coastal cities with chances of thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening period over places like Delta,“ it said.

NiMet forecast northern cities likely to remain in sunny condition on Thursday while the central cities are expected to be in partly cloudy condition during the morning/evening period.

It envisaged partly cloudy conditions over the southern cities in the morning with chances of thunderstorms over Owerri, Enugu, Ondo and Ibadan.

“For Friday, northern cities likely to remain in sunny condition while central cities are expected to be in partly cloudy condition in morning with prospect of thunderstorm over Southern Abuja, Lokoja, Kwara and Makurdi during afternoon/evening.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy condition is envisaged over the inland cities and coastal cities in the morning hours.

“Later in the day there are better prospects of thunderstorms over the inland and its coastal belt,“ it said. (NAN)

Abuja, March 13, 2020 (NAN) Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted decrease of temperatures over north to central states with visibility in the range of 2 km to 5km due to the dust in suspension.

NiMet weather outlook released on Friday in Abuja further predicted influx of moisture into the southern region to as high as Lat. 9ْN has increased cloudiness over the region.

“For Saturday, dust haze with visibility range of 2km to 5km and localised horisontal visibility of less than 1000m is likely over the entire northern and central region in the morning and evening hours.

“Except Ilorin which will be in thunderstorms in the morning hours with partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are likely over the inland cities in the morning and evening period except Benin and Abeokuta which will be in thunderstorms in the morning hours.

“ Cloudy condition should prevail over the coastal region with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Lagos in the morning hours.

“Later in the day, there are possibilities of thunderstorms over Calabar and Port Harcourt, “ he said.

According to NiMet, northern cities are likely to remain sunny and hazy conditions while central cities are expected to be in dust haze conditions during the morning/evening period.

The agency forecast partly cloudy to cloudy conditions to be likely over the inland cities in the morning and evening period except Benin and Abeokuta which would be in thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening hours.

NiMet, further, predicted partly cloudy to cloudy conditions to be expected over the coastal region in the morning hours with possibilities of isolated thunderstorms over Yenagoa, Eket, Calabar and Lagos during the afternoon/evening hours.

“ For Monday, sunny condition is likely over northern while partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are envisaged over the central cities during the morning/evening periods.

“A partly cloudy to cloudy condition is likely over the inland cities. Cloudy condition should prevail over the coastal region with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Lagos Yenagoa, Benin, and Southern Ondo in the morning hours.

“There are possibilities of thunderstorms over Calabar, Lagos, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt and Southern Ondo during the afternoon/evening hours,“ it said. (NAN)

Abuja, March 10, 2020 (NAN) Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted increase in temperatures across the entire country from Wednesday till Friday.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja forecast sunny and dry weather to continue over the northern cities.

According to the forecast, the influx of moisture into southern region as high as Lat. 9ْN has increased cloudiness over the region, with reported cases of light rains over areas within the south.

It indicated that “for Wednesday, the entire northern cities are expected to be sunny and dry during the morning/evening period, with cloudy to sunny conditions likely to prevail over central states in the morning hours.

“Due to the influx of moisture extending up to some parts of the central states, there are prospects of thunderstorms over southern Niger, Abuja and Lokoja axis in the afternoon/evening period.

“Places like Calabar, Eket and Port Harcourt of southern region are expected to experience thunderstorms, leaving the remaining parts cloudy during the morning hours.

“Later in the day, some inland cities such as Enugu, Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Benin, Ibadan, and the entire coastal cities are expected to witness isolated thunderstorms.”

NiMet envisaged northern cities likely to remain sunny and dry during the morning/evening period on Thursday, to be accompanied with increase in temperatures and high levels of discomfort.

It predicted cloudy to sunny conditions over the central cities with possibilities of thunderstorms over Kaduna, Abuja, Makurdi and Mambila Plateau during the afternoon/evening period.

“ The inland and coastal cities are expected to be cloudy during the morning hours. Later some isolated cases of thunderstorms are likely to prevail over the inland and coastal cities.

“ Dust haze condition is expected to prevail over the northern region on Friday while cloudy to sunny skies are envisaged over the central cities during the morning/evening periods.

“ A cloudy morning is expected over the inland and  coastal cities, however, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over the southwest inland and its coastal cities during the afternoon/evening period,” it predicted. (NAN)

Abuja, March 9, 2020 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny and hazy conditions over Northern region with possibilities of isolated cases of thunderstorms over central region down to coastal cities.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Monday in Abuja forecast sunny and hazy conditions over the north throughout the forecast period on Tuesday.

According to it, isolated thunderstorms are likely over Yola, Jos and Abuja during the afternoon/evening hours.

“Southern states will experience morning thunderstorms over Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Calabar and Yenegoa axis.

“There are chances of isolated thunderstorms over the coastal belt, Enugu, Abakaliki and Obudu during the afternoon/evening hours,” it said.

NiMet envisaged sunny and hazy atmosphere over northern parts of the country on Wednesday with partly cloudy to sunny conditions over central cities in the morning hours with chances of isolated thunderstorm during evening hours.

It predicted partly cloudy to cloudy conditions over the inland in the morning with chances of thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening hours.

“Lagos is to experience thunderstorms in the morning hours with more prospects of thunderstorms over the coast during the afternoon/evening period,” it said. (NAN)

Abuja, Feb. 24, 2020 (NAN) Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze condition over north and central cities with chances of cloud build up over most parts of southern region for Tuesday.

NiMet’s weather outlook on Monday in Abuja predicted thick dust haze over north with moderate dust haze over Maiduguri and central cities with visibility range of about 2km to 5km throughout forecast period.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are anticipated over southern region.

“However, there are possibilities of localised thunderstorms over Benin, Lagos, Yenagoa, Warri and Calabar axis in afternoon/evening hours.

” For Wednesday, moderate dust haze should prevail over the north and central cities. Partly cloudy to hazy conditions are expected over the inland cities throughout the forecast
period.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy condition is anticipated over the coastal cities in the morning hours with hazy condition later in the day” it said.

According to NiMet, sunny and hazy conditions are expected over the north and central cities on Tuesday with partly cloudy to sunny conditions over the southern cities.

“Later in the day, localised thunderstorms are expected over Lagos, Warri, Calabar and Benin axis,” the agency added. (NAN)

NiMet’s weather outlook on Friday in Abuja further predicted increased cloudiness over the inland and coastal cities withing period of forecast .

“Dust haze should prevail over the north and central cities with visibility range of 2km to 5km.Partly cloudy to hazy condition is anticipated over the Inland areas within the forecast period.

“Mist/fog condition is anticipated over the coastal cities in the morning with chances of cloudiness over the coastal belt during the afternoon/evening hours.

The agency forecast thick dust haze over the north and central cities on Sunday.

According to it, partly cloudy to hazy condition is anticipated over the Inland cities throughout the forecast period.

It predicted cloudy condition over the coastal cities with chances of localised thunderstorm over Lagos, Warri, Owerri, Yenagoa, Calabar, Eket and Port- Harcourt axis.

“For Monday, thick dust haze is expected over the north and central cities with moderate dust haze over the inland cities throughout the forecast period.

” Partly cloudy condition is anticipated over the coastal areas in the morning hours while hazy conditions are envisaged in afternoon/evening hours,” it said. (NAN)

dust haze condition over the northern cities while the central and southern cities to be in sunny and hazy condition.
NiMet’s weather outlook on Sunday in Abuja further predicted possibilities of cloud building up around coastal
region during forecast period.

“For northern states, moderate dust haze condition is expected over northwest region while dust haze condition with visibility of 1km to 3km range over northeasthern region throughout forecast period.

” Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the ranges of 31 degree Celsius to 34 degree Celsius and 12 degree Celsius to 23 degree Celsius respectively, ” it said.

According to NiMet, sunny and hazy conditions are expected over the central states throughout the forecast period.

The agency envisaged day and night temperature values to be 30 degree Celsius to 38 degree Celsius and 10 degree Celsius to 22 degree Celsius respectively.

“For southern states, early morning mist/fog is likely over coastal cities while sunny and hazy conditions are expected over inland cities throughout forecast period with partly cloudy to sunny condition over coastal cities later in the day.

“Day and night temperature values are expected to be from 31 degree Celsius to
38 degree Celsius and 15 degree Celsius 24 degree Celsius respectively, ” it said (NAN)

region with reduction in horizontal visibility.
NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja predicted Inland cities to be in dust haze condition with slight cloud build up over the coastal axis within period of forecast.
” For northern states, thick dust haze condition is expected over the region with day temperature from 30 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius and and night temperature to be from 16 degree Celsius to18 degree Celsius.
” For central states, thick dust haze condition is anticipated over the region within forecast period with day temperature expected to be from 30 degree Celsius to 36 degree Celsius and night to be 15 degree Celsius to 21degree Celsius,” it said.
According to the agency, dust haze conditions are expected over the inland of southern states throughout the forecast period.
The agency envisaged early morning mist and fog patches to prevail over the coast of the region in the morning hours with chances of partly cloudy to hazy conditions during the afternoon and evening hours.
NiMet forecast day temperature of the southern region to be from 34 degree Celsius to 39 degree Celsius and night temperature to be 19 degree Celsius to 24 degree Celsius. (NAN)
